Equity advisory board reports average of about 20 bullying reports per year; committee to meet quarterly

Dr. McCartney, presenting the committee's summary, said members reviewed the MAEVE equity document and provided feedback on policy and procedure drafts, including the library media policy and driver's-education participation criteria. Committee members also met with the association of student councils to gather student views on school culture.
Bullying data and response. The committee reviewed three years of bullying-report data and found about 20 reported incidents per year on average. "We looked at data for the last 3 years and saw that we have about 20 reports on average yearly," Dr. McCartney said. Committee members discussed whether reported incidents undercount bullying and noted climate surveys and upcoming Panorama data could provide additional context. The committee will meet quarterly and will prioritize parent‑teacher conference attendance and parent engagement next year.
Student voice and reporting protocols. Student board member Cadence praised the committee's outreach to student councils as "very impactful" and encouraged continued conversation with students. Dr. McCartney explained the district's bullying-report form is posted online under student services and that parents or school staff can assist families in filing reports.
Status and next steps. The equity advisory board will continue quarterly meetings and will begin the next cycle by looking at parent‑teacher conference participation; staff also said the district will use climate and Panorama survey data to inform future work.
