Cascades (formerly Knoxy Manor) pauses assisted-living build; seeks 54-space parking lot instead

Pam Roper, a planner with Frederick City, introduced a planning-commission-level site-plan revision for the Cascades (previously named Knoxy Manor) project. The applicant representative said the developer will not proceed with the assisted-living facility that had been planned for the site and instead seeks to use that footprint to construct a 54-space parking lot to serve the existing building.
The applicant said the proposed parking fits around existing stormwater infrastructure, forested areas and landscaping. Roper said the application will be heard by the planning commission because of the level of disturbance associated with the proposed parking and that the review will follow the planning-commission schedule.
No public comments were recorded at the NAC meeting on this item. Staff said the application will proceed through planning commission review and technical clearance prior to any permit issuance.
