Lakeway — Following an executive-session consultation with legal counsel, the City Council on July 21 approved a resolution appointing a special municipal prosecutor in connection with pending matters.
The resolution (item 8) had been pulled earlier for closed-session consultation under Texas Government Code provisions for attorney–client matters. After council returned to open session, a motion to approve the item was called; the resolution passed 6–1.
No deliberations on the substance of pending litigation were disclosed in open session; staff and the council cited the need for confidentiality under the attorney–client privilege and said any action taken in public was limited to the vote on the resolution.
