Supervisor Villegas introduced a resolution recognizing Probation Services Week (July 20–26) and praised probation officers for accountability, rehabilitation work and maximizing community resources. Rochelle Gaten of the Probation Department accepted the recognition and highlighted staff sacrifice, internal recognition programs and the department's staffing challenges. Several probation staff were acknowledged on the dais.
Supervisor Bill Frerichs and Chair Vixie Sandy presented a separate resolution declaring August 6, 2025 as Hiroshima and Nagasaki Remembrance Day and urging U.S. leadership to reduce the risk of nuclear war. Speakers from the Davis Committee Against Nuclear Weapons thanked the board and noted a planned public educational event on August 6 with a keynote speaker and public commemoration.
