Kaufman County commissioners on July 22 approved multiple road-related procurement actions: advertising a request for qualifications for engineering design services on project FM 741, approving the county’s purchase of a tractor with a boom mower, and authorizing advertisement of an invitation for bids for retaining walls and a flume at a Ranch Road address.
County staff recommended advertising the RFQ for FM 741 design, a county-transportation-bond-funded project with an estimated design budget of about $1,500,000 and a projected design timeline of 24 to 30 months. "We estimate about 1,500,000.0. The estimate design timeline is about 24 to 30 months and, I recommend the approval of advertising the RSQ," Lorena told the court. Staff said the project can skip a planning step and go directly to design because right-of-way and utilities impacts should be minimal.
The court approved the purchase of a Case IHF 110A tractor with a 22-inch samurai boom mower for Road Bridge 3 at a cost of $148,540.13 using cooperative contract source O82923CNH; staff said the cooperative contract met procurement requirements and the county will pay cash. Commissioners approved advertising an IFB for retaining walls and a flume at approximately 16001 Ranch Road; the procurement will follow standard public-bid procedures.
All motions were approved by voice vote. County staff said they hope to shorten the FM 741 schedule where possible but gave 24–30 months as an estimate for design.
