Kaufman County’s commissioners on July 22 reviewed the treasurer’s monthly and quarterly investment reports and approved weekly claims and payroll that totaled $3,439,165.64.
County Treasurer Chuck reported the county ended June with $33,654,003.85 in Fund 10 and said the county earned interest from American National Bank and pooled funds. "We ended the month with $33,654,003.85 in Fund 10," Chuck told the court. He reported total invested in the county’s pools and accounts and gave average yields for each vehicle.
For the April–June quarter, Chuck reported the county’s investment earnings included $1,126,863 from Texas Class and smaller amounts from other accounts; the county’s interest earned so far in the fiscal year was reported as $3,332,776. The court was told roughly 74.4% of cash was invested with the remainder held in bank for operations.
The court also approved accounts payable invoices of $1,282,831.89 (largely FEMA reimbursements and road materials) and a payroll run of $2,156,333.75 for a total payout of $3,439,165.64.
Commissioners approved a single line-item transfer requested to cover training costs and accepted the treasurer’s reports by voice vote. Each finance motion was approved without recorded roll-call votes.
The court was also given upcoming budget dates: a public workshop for nonprofits, a proposed budget adoption on Aug. 5, grievance deadlines in early August, and final budget adoption on Aug. 26.
