Kaufman County approves $20,015.40 payment to finish South Highway 341/75 connector geotech work

Kaufman County commissioners on July 22 approved a $20,015.40 payment to ECS Southwest LLP to complete geotechnical work on the South Highway 341/75 connector road.
County staff told the court the construction project finished under budget and the payment will close the contractor’s outstanding geotech bill. "This is $20,015.40 to finish paying ECS for the geotech and then we'll have $46,204.85 remaining that will go back to the bond funds," Brenda Bridal said during the meeting.
Bridal said the overall project finished roughly $284,000 under its original budget. She reported the county reallocated parts of the savings: about $80,000 toward an FM 148 contract with Westwood and roughly $137,000 toward contract work on the 175 interchange. After the approved ECS payment, Bridal said the remaining balance will be returned to the county bond funds.
Commissioner Moore moved to approve the payment; Commissioner Lane seconded. The court voted in favor.
County officials did not provide a detailed final project cost breakdown beyond the figures reported at the meeting. The payment was processed from bond-authorized project funds and the remaining balance will be retained in the bond account for future projects.
