Stafford council approves $25,000 pilot program to repair and rehabilitate residential sidewalks

Mayor Pro Tem Bostick introduced the pilot program proposal; a council speaker identified the original recommendation as $20,000 and said public‑works staff could identify about 80 possible projects. “The goal is just to find out where these trip hazards are, where we're missing sidewalks, already built sidewalks in our neighborhood and just let [public works] identify a trip hazard,” the council speaker said.
A motion to consider the program in the upcoming budget for $25,000 was made and seconded; the council approved the motion by voice vote. The pilot’s stated purpose is to locate and repair trip hazards and rehabilitate missing or deteriorated residential sidewalks throughout Stafford.
Council members did not specify a project list at the July 16 meeting; public‑works staff were tasked to identify candidate locations for the pilot and report back as the budget process proceeds.
