Sierra Vista animal shelter to hold ‘Splash Zone’ adoption event July 19 with discounted fees

Britney Schultz, senior animal control officer at the Nancy J. Brewer Animal Care Center, said the event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with discounted adoption fees available until the shelter closes at 5 p.m. Schultz said dogs normally adopted for $75 will be discounted to $50 and cats normally $50 will be discounted to $25 for the event.
Schultz described the event as family‑friendly, with water activities for children and animals, frozen treats and a dunk tank. She also said the shelter recently completed an expansion to 18 kennels, 14 of which are in the adoption courtyard and are currently occupied.
The shelter requires a meet‑and‑greet for households that wish to bring a current dog to test compatibility with a potential adoptee, Schultz said. She added most animals can be adopted and go home the same day after application and processing.
The shelter is located at 6799 East Highway 90. Schultz encouraged the public to attend and meet animals available for adoption.
