Chatham County wins Moody's AAA rating; officials say it signals fiscal strength

Chatham County received a AAA bond rating from Moody's Investors Service after a May site visit and follow-up review, county officials announced during the July 18 commission meeting. Courtney Rogers of Davenport & Company, the county's financial advisor, briefed commissioners on the visit and the rating.
The county secured the highest rating Moody's assigns after the agency reviewed local finances, fund balance levels and recent economic growth, Rogers said.
