Genola council appoints Brennan Jackson to fill vacancy left by Hale Robinson

The Genola Town Council on a closed ballot vote appointed Brennan Jackson to fill the council seat vacated by the late Hale Robinson. The council reported a 3–1 tally in favor of Jackson; one ballot was cast for Wiley Thomas. The council then administered the oath of office to Jackson.
The appointment followed a hearing in which four residents—Corinne Agard, Troy Gustafson, K. (Brennan) Jackson and Wiley Thomas—were each invited to speak to the council about their qualifications. Corinne Agard said she moved to Genola about eight years ago and told the council she was "constitutional conservative" who wanted to help “keep Genola Genola.” Troy Gustafson said he wanted to be “a voice of reason” and help bring people together. Brennan Jackson described 35 years in public education and experience with grants, infrastructure and school construction projects, saying he would bring project and grant-writing experience to the council.
Neil Brown, mayor, directed the application and interview process and Lucinda (staff member) administered the oath. After the vote the council swore in Jackson, who took the oath to “support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this state” and to “discharge the duties of my office with fidelity.”
The council conducted the appointment by closed ballot as specified on the agenda. No additional formal conditions or assignments were announced at the time of the appointment.
