Council approves consent-item authorizing amendment 11 to design-build agreement for raw water pump station work

The Grants Pass City Council approved, as part of the consent agenda, a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute Amendment 11 to the design-build agreement with Slaton Construction Group Inc. for work on the raw water pump station (Project WA6207). The item was discussed briefly at council request before remaining on consent; the full consent agenda passed by unanimous roll call.

Jason (city staff) summarized Amendment 11 as the detailed design and procurement step for intake modifications. He said the amendment covers vertical turbine pump selection, electrical gear and generator design, SCADA, scribe-wash and desilt modifications, and the transfer of several drain pumps to the new electrical system so future repurposing of the existing building is feasible. Jason said the amendment will produce procurement documents and a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for the required intake modifications. Staff noted prior steps: amendment 9 funded preliminary intake design and the GMP for the overall replacement water treatment plant was previously approved in January. Jason said amendment 9 cost was about $411,000 and that the intake work is within the previously discussed GMP placeholder.

Councilor Rick asked for details; Jason said the presentation was intended to address those questions and that the amendment remains within the budgeted GMP. Councilor Kathleen moved to approve the consent agenda, including the resolution authorizing Amendment 11; Seth seconded.
