Payson Chamber presents quarterly report; reports membership growth and summer event attendance

Payson — Christopher Skadden, executive assistant for the Payson/San Joaquin Chamber of Commerce, presented the chamber’s quarterly report to the City Council on July 16, highlighting membership growth, event activity and upcoming ribbon cuttings.
Skadden said the chamber supported several grand openings this quarter and promoted events including an Adventure Day and the Scottish Festival. He reported the San Joaquin Hometown Market has attracted more than 1,000 attendees each of the first three nights and that the chamber has had 40 or more booths nightly, with 23 Payson businesses participating.
The chamber plans a ribbon cutting at Golden West Credit Union on Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. and a Passport to Summer pool party at the Payson Pool on Aug. 9 at 6:30 a.m. Skadden said plans are underway for a Payson Christmas Festival on Nov. 29 and a series of workshops this fall for local businesses.
On finances, Skadden reported fiscal year revenue of $83,386, a $2,000 deficit and $25,000 in cash reserves. The chamber lists 159 active members, including 39 new members added in the last fiscal year. “This significant growth in new membership truly reflects the increasing value and impact of the Chamber,” he said.
Mayor and councilors thanked the chamber for its work and asked for the presentation materials to be emailed to them for closer review of the maps and event details.
