The Josephine County Board of Commissioners voted 2-1 on July 17 to approve board resolution 2025-033 authorizing a temporary loan from the county general fund to the Grants Pass Airport to cover construction invoices for a planned 700-foot runway extension.
Airport Director Mike Crisafulli told the board the project has been planned for about a decade and that the airport has accumulated approximately $3,100,000 across 15 FAA and related grants to pay construction costs. Crisafulli said construction is scheduled to begin in mid-August with completion by October and that invoices will start in September. "98% of this project is being paid for through state and federal grants. There's no county taxpayer money going into it," he said, adding that he does not anticipate drawing more than $2,000,000 from the county's temporary line of credit because of the planned drawdown and reimbursement schedule.
