Forest Lake board authorizes bid for high school serving lines to improve lunch flow

The Forest Lake Public School District Board of Education on July 17 authorized administration to publish a solicitation to replace serving-line equipment at Forest Lake High School and to add a pizza serving line intended to improve cafeteria flow.
Director Amber Guy described the high school food-service equipment as aged — some units date to the early 2000s and other models to 2018 — and said several models will be repurposed to elementary sites. “We’re also adding the pizza line at the high school next year,” Director Guy said, noting the change is intended to ease congestion in the main cafeteria and concessions area.
Administration said it will advertise the bid in local papers, open bids on Aug. 8 and present an award recommendation to the board at a subsequent meeting. Board members asked whether the elementary buildings require similar bids; administration said elementary projects do not meet the published-bid threshold but that quotes are obtained for purchases over $25,000.
A motion to approve the request passed on a roll-call vote. Member Anne Tonesen, Member Christensen, Member Castle, Member Rebelein, Member Corcoran and Member Haglund voted aye; Member Tyson was absent. The board chair declared the motion carried.
Ending: Administration will publish the bid and return with recommended bid-award action after the Aug. 8 opening.
