Valley County’s planning and zoning director told commissioners on July 16 that the county’s comprehensive plan is close to being ready for public release but that the county is waiting for the Planning & Zoning (P&Z) chair to set a public hearing date.
The director said “there are a few changes” — including some corrected graphs — that P&Z commissioners identified and that staff are integrating before the public notice. He said staff will schedule a software demonstration next Tuesday for online tools under consideration and that some peer counties in Idaho already use the platform under review.
The director said neighborhood meetings required for several subdivision applications delayed the next month’s P&Z agenda; those neighborhood meetings must occur before the county will accept certain subdivision applications. Commissioners and planning staff discussed blending comp-plan impact-area work with related zoning and water-quality issues.
No formal action or vote was recorded on the comprehensive plan scheduling during the meeting; the item was an informational update and awaits the P&Z chair’s direction on timing for a public hearing.
