Valley County plans to transition payroll from a monthly to a biweekly schedule and to migrate payroll functions to Tyler Technologies, HR Director Mike Savoy told commissioners on July 16.
“We are looking at September 28 as the go live date for going from monthly to biweekly,” Savoy said. He told commissioners that payroll staff Christina Johnston and Gabby are training with Tyler and that the vendor’s payroll module can handle law-enforcement overtime schedules, which use four-week cycles.
Savoy reported the county has 158 employees on payroll, including seven seasonal employees. He said the county is actively recruiting for several positions, including detention deputy, custodian, IT technician, plat clerk and recreation planner; he noted 911 dispatcher staffing remains unfilled.
Savoy said Tyler Technologies’ payroll system has built-in handling for law-enforcement overtime and that sheriff’s office staff will be able to track and predict overtime under the new system. He also said county leadership is working on compensation planning for the next fiscal year.
No formal vote or budget approval for the migration was recorded in the portion of the transcript provided; Savoy presented this as an operational update.
