Schenectady — The Schenectady City School District Board of Education on July 16 approved a contract that allows the city to operate drones as first responders and to place a drone “nest” on the roof of Central Park Middle School, city and district presenters said.
Police and city staff told the board that the middle-school roof is among the city’s highest vantage points and is therefore an ideal second drone location to cover more of Schenectady. The police department described the devices as “drone nests” that open when a drone is dispatched and close when it returns.
