The City Council unanimously approved a first amendment to the law-enforcement services agreement with the County of Sonoma, extending the contract through June 30, 2030. The amendment formalizes several budgetary and administrative changes negotiated between city staff and the sheriffs office.
City Manager David Guin and staff said negotiations clarified the treatment of indirect (overhead) costs and created a process for annual review of that percentage; sheriff"s staff met with city finance staff to review line-by-line budget components. The amendment also formalizes the removal of a previously shared youth-and-family services cost from the contract after the school district and district prosecutors developed alternative diversion arrangements for youth, city staff said.
Sheriff Tom Ingram, who addressed the council, praised the continuing partnership and said staff will continue to provide services under the contract. Councilmembers thanked the sheriff's office and praised Police Chief Brandon Cutting for operational coordination. Councilmembers emphasized they will continue annual service-plan negotiations and that the city manager and police chief review the service plan annually.
The council adopted the resolution approving the contract amendment by unanimous roll-call vote.
