Dennis and Pam Lowry spoke briefly and expressed gratitude; the board extended thanks to the family and to the Athletic Boosters for additional contributions. The resolution designates the name for a 15‑year duration commencing on July 16, 2040; the resolution states that at the end of that term the weight room will retain the name until the board renames the facility.
Financial and appropriation items: The board approved the financial reports for May 2025 and authorized the treasurer to make any year‑end appropriation amendments necessary to balance fiscal year 2025 appropriations. It also adopted temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2026 at the same levels as FY25 to allow operations to continue; the board noted permanent appropriations will be adopted by Sept. 30, 2025 as required by law.
Service agreements: The board accepted an agreement with ShelterCare of Tallmadge for the 2025–26 school year to provide educational services for students receiving temporary housing; the superintendent clarified that funding for that partnership comes from federal Title I‑D grant dollars. The board also approved a renewal agreement with the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio (ESC NEO) for teachers of the visually impaired and orientation and mobility services for the 2025–26 school year; the board noted there are no cost increases this year.
Handbook and personnel: The board accepted the updated Tallmadge High School handbook for 2025–26. District leaders said the handbook adds bathroom vape detectors and a requirement that students and staff wear visible identification badges while in district buildings. The board approved a package of personnel motions (items 5.1–5.12) with several hires and internal promotions highlighted during discussion.
Votes at the meeting were taken by voice; members recorded ayes on each of the items listed above. The meeting adjourned after public comments that included praise for the mentoring program and the Lowry family contribution.
