Weston County OKs multiple 24-hour alcohol permits and approves liquor license transfer

The Weston County Board of Commissioners approved several 24-hour malt-beverage permits for upcoming events and approved a local liquor-license transfer.

Board members approved a 24-hour malt-beverage permit for Mason Kaiser to conduct sales at the Weston County Fairgrounds on dates listed on the permit as July 26–August 3, 2025; county staff noted the permit “goes into” Aug. 4 and extends until 2:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 4. Commissioners and staff clarified the fairboard retains discretion over whether alcohol sales occur at specific events during the fair. One commissioner said she was uncomfortable with alcohol sales during a junior rodeo event and signaled she would likely vote no on that individual permit, citing the presence of youth activities: “I’m not comfortable with alcohol sales with the junior rubber. I just don’t think that looks right,” the commissioner said during discussion.

The board approved a transfer of a liquor license from Sam’s Berry Pizza Barn to Pizza Barn LLC. County staff confirmed the transfer paperwork was in order and the motion to approve was carried by voice vote.

The board also approved a package of 11 24-hour permits for Jessica Lundgren doing business as Holler Homestead LLC for a rally at 4 Corners. Staff confirmed Lundgren had obtained landowner permission and submitted the same map used the previous year.

County staff Amber and others answered procedural questions about permit dates, types of alcoholic beverage authority (malt beverages), and whether the permits permit sales into the early morning of Aug. 4. The motions to approve the chairman’s signature on the various permits and the liquor-license transfer were moved and seconded; each was approved by voice vote with no roll‑call tallies recorded in the meeting transcript.
