The Wayne County Commission adopted a resolution rescinding Resolution No. 2022-43, the measure that had authorized the establishment of the Wayne County Commission Youth Council. The rescission, read into the record by the clerk, states that "no similar activities shall be permitted effective 07/17/2025." The motion to rescind was moved by Commissioner Peterson Mayberry and supported by Commissioner Kinloch; Commissioner Anderson requested to be recorded as abstaining. The chair announced "Motion carries."
Later in the meeting, during the public-comment period, a youth council member identified as Amo Movatur (a rising senior at Northville High School per his remarks) addressed the commission and described ongoing activity by the youth council. He thanked Commissioner Baker McCormick for hiring him as a summer intern and said, "the application for the 2025–26 term for the Wayne County Commission Youth Council is open, and our first meeting and swearing in ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 2." He also urged commissioners to encourage interested high school students in their districts to apply and said the council's youth resolution this year addressed food insecurity.
The public record shows both the formal rescission adopted earlier in the meeting and, separately, a public comment later in the same session describing recruitment activity and an upcoming swearing-in. The transcript does not include an on-the-record staff explanation reconciling the rescission vote with the youth council member's statement.
