The Highline Public Schools Board of Directors unanimously approved the 2024–25 annual evaluation for Superintendent Dr. Ivan Duran and ratified an amended employment contract extending from 2025 through 2028.
Board members described the evaluation process as comprehensive and praised Duran's leadership during a period of recovery from pandemic disruptions. President Vann noted the board had engaged in "thoughtful, really heartfelt discussions" during the evaluation process and thanked Duran for his "openness and professionalism." Several directors highlighted the complexity of post‑pandemic recovery, the district's financial stewardship and ongoing work to improve student outcomes.
Director Angelica Alvarez moved approval of the evaluation; the motion passed by roll call vote 5–0. The board then approved the amended employment contract for 2025–28; that motion also passed 5–0.
The employment contract and the evaluation document are attached to the board action report and will be retained in district records per standard HR practice. Directors said the actions reflect their statutory responsibilities to evaluate the superintendent and oversee employment terms for the district's chief executive.
