Committee approves $30,000 transfer from fund balance to pay Relayhub fee for Medicare reimbursement services

The Chariho Regional School Committee on July 15 approved a $30,000 transfer from the district’s fund balance to pay Relayhub (a third-party vendor) for Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement services.
Greg (staff member) explained that Relayhub charges a 4.5% fee for services that help the district recover reimbursements from Medicaid and Medicare. Greg said earlier in the year the district had not budgeted the payment and later determined it needed an appropriation to cover the vendor fees incurred in FY25. He said the district’s recoveries to date were well in excess of the vendor fee: “Last year, to date, we collected about $430,000 for FY25,” Greg said, and noted prior-year recoveries were lower but still substantial.
Committee members discussed whether the payment would be fully used and asked staff to track the invoices paid from this transfer; administration said any unused balance at year-end would revert to the fund balance.
The motion to transfer $30,000 from the fund balance for Relayhub fees carried unanimously.
