Dover Area SD reports sharp increases in AP participation; district seeks volunteers for comprehensive plan

Superintendent Dr. Hauck reported an increase in Advanced Placement participation and outcomes at Dover Area High School and said the district will soon begin recruiting volunteers for its next comprehensive plan.
"We have experienced a 100% increase in the total number of AP exams taken," Dr. Hauck said, adding that the district has also increased AP-course enrollment and the number of students taking exams. She reported that the district had 18 AP Scholars this year (up from six previously), five AP Scholars with distinction and several AP Scholars with honors. Dr. Hauck emphasized that increasing enrollment in rigorous coursework was a deliberate goal in the district's comprehensive plan and that the administration prioritized getting more students into the classes themselves.
The superintendent also said the district's comprehensive-plan process will begin in November 2025 and staff will be recruiting parents, students and community volunteers to participate. Additional items mentioned included use of social media channels (Instagram accounts run by principals and PTOs) to increase parent engagement.
Board members congratulated students and staff on the AP results and asked administration to circulate volunteer sign-up details for the comprehensive-plan committees when they are available.
