The draft also included language exempting English-language learners from some retention provisions and reaffirmed that statewide assessment scores may be used in placement decisions. Staff said the existing policy already allowed the use of state assessment data.
No formal vote was taken. Staff will prepare the draft consistent with the board27s direction for further consideration.
