Commissioners receive July construction report and approve bond-funded road projects

Robert (Bob) Day, senior director of infrastructure, presented the July construction summary to Williamson County Commissioners Court on July 15, describing progress across precincts on roads, bridges and bond-funded segments.

Day highlighted ongoing work on Ronald Reagan Boulevard bridge pours and Night-time pours for bridge work, Liberty Hill bypass utility relocations, the Quarter Bend/Sand Bass paving project and East Wilco Highway interchange work with TxDOT participation. He noted collaboration with the cities of Round Rock and the Union Pacific Railroad on several projects. For one project near Hairy Man Road, Day said Round Rock will lead required traffic closures and that public notices are in place.

After the presentation the court approved agenda items 56 through 65 — which staff identified as road construction and bond-related projects — on a 4-0 vote. Commissioners commended the Public Works crews for storm-response work following recent flooding, and Day said crews had been working around the clock to reopen more than two dozen closed roads earlier in the month and continue repairs as rains persisted.

Road district motions were handled consecutively: the court preliminarily approved debt authorizations for several road districts and accepted a set of routine road-district agenda items; the road-district meeting adjourned at 11:11 a.m. The court recessed to executive session at 11:12 a.m.
