Court waives county portion of landfill fees for approved disaster vouchers

Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a waiver July 15 of the county’s portion of landfill fees for vouchers issued in response to a recent flooding incident.
Auditor Nathan Zinsmeyer explained the change during discussion of agenda item 39: by waiving the county’s portion of landfill fees for the specified vouchers, the county avoids recording the fee portion as county revenue when the vouchers are processed. Zinsmeyer said the waiver applies to the vouchers approved on the prior Friday and is intended to simplify accounting for disaster relief assistance.
Commissioner Bolles moved approval of the waiver for the specific voucher set; the motion was seconded and passed 4-0. County staff clarified that voucher recipients would still receive the full value of their approved voucher amounts and that the waiver simply excludes county fees from deductions so the net benefit to residents is preserved.
