The Midlothian Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a detailed development site plan, including building elevations and a landscape plan, for a 0.592-acre lot in Plan Development District 86 in the Hawkins Meadows Commercial area.
Staff told the commission the site is a vacant 0.592-acre parcel on the south side of Hawkins Run Road and that the PD requires P&Z and city council review for detailed site plans. Staff said surrounding land uses include vacant land to the east, single-family housing to the south, a Starbucks to the west and a shopping center to the north. No variances were required for elevations or landscaping, and staff recommended approval.
A commissioner asked whether a nearby State Farm office would be a tenant; staff said they were not aware. Commissioners also asked about tenant occupancy and were told the proposal included space for a State Farm agent and one additional tenant; the applicant's proposal allows one other rentable tenant space. After a brief discussion, a commissioner moved to approve and the commission voted unanimously to approve the detailed site plan as presented.
