The Madera County Board of Supervisors on July 15 approved appointing Assessor Brett Fraser as the interim county chief information officer and granting him supplemental pay equal to 25% of his salary while the county completes recruitment for a permanent CIO.
Shanika Dixon, director of human resources, told the board the county initiated recruitment after the recent CIO retirement and expects a filing deadline of Aug. 8 with an anticipated appointment in mid-October. "In the interim, it is recommended that Assessor Brett Fraser assume the duties and responsibilities of the chief information officer on an interim basis," Dixon said.
Nut graf: County council reviewed the appointment and reported no incompatibility with Fraser's existing role as county assessor. Fraser told the board he will continue performing assessor duties while taking on administrative responsibilities for the IT office and thanked supervisors for the opportunity.
Ending: The resolution passed on a roll-call 4-0 vote. Supervisors thanked Fraser for stepping into the interim role; staff said they will continue recruitment and administrative oversight of the IT department.
