District reports summer programs, device migration and facilities work ahead of school year

District administrators provided the board with operational updates on summer programs, fall calendars, technology projects and facilities work.

Mister Ridgeway reviewed summer programming for developmental kindergarten through eighth grade and summer meal sites (including Harp Creek High School learning center and Beetle Lake Elementary). He also highlighted a summer-school showcase on July 30 (elementary 9:00'9:45 a.m.; middle school 10:00'10:45 a.m.), and fall events including a meet-the-teacher schedule (middle and high school Aug. 18; elementary Aug. 19) and the first day of school listed as Aug. 20.

Laura Williams briefed the board on curriculum and staff onboarding; she noted a breakfast with new staff planned for Aug. 15 at 7:30 a.m. Facilities director Mister Robinson described summer repairs, including pothole milling and sealing slated for early August in high-school parking areas and ongoing planning for parent drop-off loops at Wallace Park. He said the high-school weight room equipment is largely ordered and the project is likely to be completed near September.

Technology staff (Mister Maynard and staff) reported the district will migrate student devices to Windows 11, requiring hands-on upgrades and license purchases; the district is also implementing a notification system at selected buildings and must spend safety-grant funds before grant deadlines.

Finance director Missus Obermeyer reported that the district earned about $313,000 in interest across funds this year and that state budget proposals remain pending; the board was reminded auditors will be on site in early September.

Administrators noted they had applied for filter-funding but had not yet received confirmation of reimbursement or award; board members asked that staff continue to track grant outcomes.
