District presents strategic-plan steps: curriculum access, PD, volunteer system and facility planning

Mister Ridgeway, speaking for district administration, presented highlights from Harper Creek's strategic plan and outlined next steps for implementation.
The presentation emphasized five priorities: drive student achievement, create a culture of collaboration, improve communications, invest in staff, and plan facilities. Ridgeway described a planned online curriculum interface that would allow parents to select a course (for example, Algebra I) and view unit topics, priority standards and scope and sequence. "So when you push a button as a parent ... you can see the units taught, the strategic or the the priority standards as well as the scope and sequence of the timeline," Ridgeway said.
Professional development (PD) plans were described as consultant-supported classroom coaching (district examples named included math and ELA consultants) and targeted PD days. The district will also reintroduce administrative monitoring of professional learning teams and expand succession, mentoring and job-shadowing opportunities for staff interested in administrative roles.
Ridgeway said the district is building a technology-enabled volunteer system so community members can sign up online, select a school and volunteer role, and have that information routed to the building HR/volunteer coordinators for background-check processing.
On facilities, Ridgeway said district architects and construction managers will present findings from a facility assessment in the coming weeks to inform a potential bond; he noted a steering committee of roughly 20 people (community members, staff and administrators) will be finalized to guide that work.
Administrators said they will provide periodic strategic-plan progress reports and a community-facing dashboard that highlights metrics such as test scores, behavior and attendance.
