Travis Vinsal of Sullivan Development told the committee the project consists of two main sites (near 30th & Broadway and 20th & College) that are currently vacant or contain boarded/burned structures; Sullivan expects to acquire parcels controlled by IHPA and begin construction after permitting and city approvals.
Vinsal said the $24 million investment will produce units with high-quality interior finishes and on-site amenities (washers/dryers, dishwashers), resident services (financial literacy, career development, fitness), and partnerships to help residents build credit and access job-training programs. He said the project is designed with buildings forward and parking in the rear to match the comprehensive plan.
Councilor Gibson, whose district includes the site, praised the developer’s neighborhood engagement and said he was pleased the project will add quality affordable housing in his district.
