Orem resident Crystal Muehlstein announces council run, emphasizes families, first responders and careful redevelopment

"Civic engagement and service are very important to me, and I'm willing to use my skills and talents to serve our wonderful city," she said.
Her priorities, she said, begin with listening to residents and supporting public safety. "I want to listen to the citizens and prioritize their needs, to our city council. I also think we need to prioritize our first responders. If we don't support them, they can't be there to support us," Muehlstein said.
Muehlstein framed development and redevelopment as a central issue for the council given the city's limited remaining land. "So Orem is about 95% built out, so how we develop and redevelop any land that comes open in our city will determine what our city looks like now and in the future," she said. She urged that redevelopment should "enhance our city, and doesn't strain our infrastructure, like traffic, police, and fire, water, those kinds of resources." She also listed support for neighborhoods, families, local businesses and government transparency as campaign priorities.
The remarks occurred during the meeting's public-comment period; no formal action, motion or vote followed the statement. Muehlstein closed by asking for residents' support. "I humbly ask for your support and your vote," she said.
