Emily Kate, parks and recreation administrative manager, said Sportsman Solutions will assess local market value of park assets, develop a sponsorship platform, market city parks and facilities to potential sponsors, and negotiate contracts on the city's behalf. The contract allows the city to pay up to a 20% commission to Sportsman Solutions on sponsorship contract value; commission tiers vary by sponsorship term and whether the sponsor was a warm lead (referred by city staff or council) or a cold lead (sourced by Sportsman Solutions).
Kate told council Sportsman Solutions reduced its commission from an industry standard of 30% to between 15 and 20% during negotiations and that the proposed contract does not include a monthly retainer. Staff recommended approval and thanked the city attorney's office for its review.
Councilmembers praised the tiered structure that incentivizes longer sponsorship terms and voted to approve the agreement. Vanderwell moved to approve AC6130; Rodriguez seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
