Town of Pulaski presents sportsplex support resolution; county proclaims July as Parks and Recreation Month

Representatives from the Town of Pulaski attended the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors meeting to present a resolution formally expressing the town’s intent to be an initial member supporting the proposed Pulaski County Sportsplex. Town presenters said the sportsplex is expected to generate tourism, business activity and jobs and to provide new recreational opportunities for regional residents. The board and staff accepted the resolution and posed for photographs with town officials.
Separately, the board adopted a proclamation declaring July as Parks and Recreation Month in Pulaski County. The proclamation cites national recognition of Parks and Recreation Month and lists benefits parks and recreation programs provide, including promoting physical and mental health, offering youth programming and contributing to economic prosperity. The board approved the proclamation by motion and roll call.
Board members and the county administrator publicly thanked volunteers and county residents for participation in a recent “1 Bag” litter‑pickup challenge that collected more than 1,600 bags of trash and 277 tires, and they drew gift‑card winners from participants. Supervisors also praised reopening of local pools and parks work in several districts.
The presentations and proclamation were noncontroversial and adopted without amendment; they were followed by routine county business.
