The Lakeville Agricultural Commission elected Paul Hunt chair and appointed Hank Van Laarman as vice chair and clerk during its meeting on Thursday, July 10.
The vote followed a nomination and second. A roll-call-style affirmation recorded three members saying "I" and one abstention; the motion to elect Hunt as chair was approved. Paul Hunt abstained from the chair vote. The subsequent nomination to make Hank Van Laarman vice chair and clerk was seconded and approved by affirmation.
Commission members present identified themselves at the start of the meeting and then proceeded to nominate and confirm the officers. Paul Hunt agreed to accept the chair nomination. The commission used verbal affirmation rather than a written ballot or recorded tally for these internal officer selections.
The newly elected chair said he would follow up on administrative items discussed later in the meeting, including sending acknowledgments and coordinating with other town staff. The commission moved on to its remaining agenda after completing the officer elections.
The commission scheduled its next regular meeting for Thursday, Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
