The Taylor City Council on July 10 ratified an emergency purchase order authorizing repairs of a damaged water line for an amount not to exceed $160,000, city staff said.
Public Works staff reported a blowout in a 10-inch line on June 29 under the bridge between the Public Works building and the water shop. Because the break occurred at the bottom of a creek, city crews contracted specialized contractors to perform the repair; the work included installing two insert valves and replacing pipe sections.
Public Works Director Mister Gray said the crew handled concurrent system needs while contractors worked on the creek repair. "We did not lose any customers during this time that we were out," he told the council. The repair work was complete and the contractor was scheduled to finish concrete cap work the following day.
Council voted to ratify the emergency purchase order by voice vote; the motion was seconded and recorded as unanimous.
