Kern County Planning Commission approves two conditional use permits and continues one to Aug. 14, 2025

The Kern County Planning Commission on an undisclosed meeting date approved two conditional use permits on the consent calendar and agreed to continue a separate permit to the commission’s Aug. 14, 2025 hearing.

Staff member Mr. Murphy told commissioners that staff recommended approval of conditional use permit (CUP) 64 (map 100), submitted by J. Manuel Puga, to allow a mobile home that exceeds the county's 30-year maximum age limit on an approximately 1.01-acre parcel zoned PLRSMH on the east side of Noble Street about 1,150 feet north of Hagman Road in unincorporated Bakersfield. Murphy said the applicant had been informed of special conditions and raised no objection.

Murphy also presented CUP 18 (map 125-31), filed by Towers of California LLC (Assurance Development), for a monopine stealth-design cellular tower 135 feet tall on property zoned C2PD on the east side of Weedpatch Highway about 530 feet south of Mountain View Road in the Lamont area. Staff recommended approval of CUP 18 in accordance with recommended conditions and adopting the draft resolution's findings.

Separately, Murphy reported that a conditional use permit identified as CUP 63 (map 100), with applicant Mormigos LLC represented by Vanderpool and Associates, was being recommended for continuance to the commission's Aug. 14, 2025 hearing.

Commissioners moved to approve the consent calendar and to note the requested continuance; the commission recorded the action with the outcome announced in the meeting as approval of the consent items and the continuance.

Murphy advised that actions of the planning commission that are final may be appealed to the Kern County Board of Supervisors. Appeals must be filed at the Kern County Planning and Natural Resources Department, 2700 M Street, Suite 100, Bakersfield, on forms available at the department and online, within 14 days of the hearing date. He said the filing fee is $562.

That concluded the consent calendar presentation and the staff reading regarding the continuance.

A copy of minutes from a prior meeting (June 12, 2024) was approved earlier in the session as part of routine business.

The commission did not discuss the merits of the projects on the record beyond staff presentation; commissioners approved the consent items and the continuance by voice vote as recorded in the meeting.
