Historic Resources Board approves 2025–26 work plan and will forward to City Council

The Palo Alto Historic Resources Board voted 4-0, with one member absent, to approve and forward its draft work plan for the 2025–26 fiscal year to the City Council.

Staff said most goals in the draft work plan carry over from the previous year, with some timeline updates and a few newly added projects, including an awards program. The board discussed goal language and minor edits in real time before taking the vote. Staff told the board the work plan is tentatively scheduled for presentation to the City Council in September.

Board members said they have active subcommittees working on several goals, including outreach and an inventory update. One member described progress building a public-facing Google Map of inventory properties and a crowdsourced intake form to collect photos and status updates for review by staff and board volunteers. Staff reminded members to route correspondence through staff to avoid Brown Act issues when communicating about board business.

Chair (name not specified) moved that the HRB approve the 2025–26 work plan and forward it to City Council; a second was recorded, and the board approved the motion by roll call. The clerk recorded the vote as 4-0 with Chair Eagleson Cheslewicz absent.

The approved plan will be transmitted to council per the board's normal schedule; staff will send a reminder about required anti-harassment training and will continue to coordinate subcommittee work and outreach steps identified in the plan.
