Santa Rosa committee maps downtown Art Walk locations, schedules September installs

The Art and Public Places Committee of Santa Rosa reviewed potential locations and installation plans for 10 artworks and five alternates selected at a prior meeting, and discussed timeline and technical needs for a downtown Art Walk intended to be installed in the fall.

The committee’s staff presenter, Meredith (staff member), said the selections from the last meeting are now being matched to city and privately owned sites and that installation work — including pouring concrete pads — is being planned with a target window of September–October. "It's still, like, flexible stage, so nothing's set in stone," Meredith said during the presentation.

Why it matters: the Art Walk aims to place temporary public artworks to connect Railroad Square, Courthouse Square and the mall with a walkable route intended to draw visitors through downtown and support nearby businesses. Committee members emphasized site fit, pedestrian flow and power availability as key determinants of final placement.
