At a meeting of the Port Resiliency Committee of Miami-Dade County, commissioners voted to defer agenda item 2A to “no date certain” and approved the remainder of the agenda, the clerk announced.
The deferral was requested so the commissioner handling the item could continue coordinating with the mayor’s office on a related matter; committee members did not set a new date for the item. The committee also closed the reasonable opportunity for members of the public to speak after the clerk said no public comment cards had been received.
The clerk’s office opened the meeting by noting that Commissioners Bermudez and Gilbert would be absent and that a quorum was present. Vice Chairman Hartman and Chairwoman Steinberg were present; the clerk recorded Commissioner Coughin Higgins as present. A motion to set the agenda in order was moved by Commissioner Coughin Higgins and seconded by Commissioner Hardiman and approved by acclamation.
Later in the meeting a commissioner asked to defer item 2A to “no date certain,” stating they had been working with the mayor on a related item and would continue those discussions. The motion to defer was seconded by Commissioner Hardiman and approved by acclamation. The committee then moved, seconded and approved the balance of the printed agenda and adjourned.
No substantive debate on item 2A took place in this session, and no public commenters addressed the committee during the reasonable opportunity period. The committee did not set a follow-up date for item 2A and indicated members would continue coordination with the mayor’s office outside the meeting.
