PUC to award $15 million engineering services pool to CDM Smith for Sonoma Valley facilities

PUC staff explained the contract will support 11 projects across the Sonoma Valley, focusing on specialized services—geotechnical, surveying, seismic studies, and treatment design—while much of the mechanical and architectural design work will be performed by PUC infrastructure staff and Public Works. Staff said the capital plan then estimated $90,000,000 in construction and related costs for the full set of projects; the $15 million contract pool provides flexible task orders for professional services. The PUC noted CDM Smith was the only responsive proposer to the advertised solicitation.
BLA staff reviewed the procurement and noted about 50% of billable hours on task orders are expected to be performed by subcontractors, with a 10% LBE participation requirement. No public speakers addressed the item. The committee voted to forward the contract award recommendation to the full Board (Dorsey, Engardio, Chan — 3 ayes).
