Committee explores closer ties with Keep Lago Vista Beautiful; flags newsletter and website timing issues

Members of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee said they welcomed representatives from Keep Lago Vista Beautiful (KLBV) at the meeting and discussed forming a closer working relationship to align priorities and pool volunteer resources and funding for parks projects.

Separately, committee members raised concerns about the timeliness and accuracy of city communications. Members noted the newsletter that accompanies the water bill sometimes arrives after events have passed and that the city website lists restaurants that have been closed for years. Amanda was identified at the meeting as the city staff member who handles the newsletter; committee members asked staff to review publication scheduling and the website’s restaurant listings and to explore posting the newsletter and event information more visibly online.

Ending: the committee agreed to invite KLBV to present at the next meeting, to consider a formal liaison arrangement, and to request that city staff review newsletter timing and website listings to improve public information. No formal votes were taken on these outreach or communications items.
