Mayor and council candidates file for Interlaken November election; land-use code review continues

Town staff told the council on July 8 that candidate filings are complete for the November municipal election. The town has an open mayoral candidate (Greg Harrigan) and three declared candidates for two council seats: Sue O'Nan, Aaron Merrilett and Matt Hammond. Staff said declarations have been submitted to the state and the county and that candidates were given an opportunity to complete profiles for a candidate booklet.
Separately, the town's planning/land-use consultant Diana has met with field staff (Derek) and expects to provide rough drafts on code changes. Topics Diana is drafting include permits and accessory-building clarifications, minimum standards for driveways, criteria for new builds, revegetation plans and rules for sport courts. Staff said Diana will meet again with Derek for further input.
Staff also provided two short building-inspection updates: final inspection was completed at 229 Burnway, and temporary power is on at 339 Hill (noted in the building-inspection update). Council did not take votes on land-use code revisions at this meeting; drafts will be provided for future discussion.
