Echols Paving completed multiple patches across town, including substantial repairs at the end of Luzerne Road where underlying material was soft and only about 2 inches of asphalt remained. The contractor invoice for the work came to about $56,000; staff said that was over the initial estimate but still under the road budget (roughly $60,000).
Council discussed a separate bid for crack sealing and patching of additional areas. Staff reported a crack-seal/patching bid of $31,320 (reported as "$31.32 k") and said the specific patching line would be charged to the current fiscal year. In one comment staff said the patching item would be about $25,260; staff also noted the town had originally budgeted approximately $85,000 for this year's road capital and maintenance and that current spending will leave the town close to that figure.
Staff said some work scheduling depends on Comcast completing its work in the right-of-way; crack-seal work will be scheduled after that contractor finishes. Council did not take a separate vote on the paving or crack-seal items during the recorded portion of the meeting.
