Klein, who joined Novomatic's executive board in February 2024, appeared with corporate regulatory staff and counsel and described a career in legal and business roles across the group's global operations. Novomatic officials said the group has expanded compliance staffing, established groupwide policies on anti-money laundering (AML), data protection and environmental, social and governance reporting, and built an internal compliance committee. Novomatic presented an organizational overview of legal and compliance lines of authority and reported new auditing, training and reporting practices since Klein's appointment.
The discussion also focused on ongoing criminal investigations in Austria that involve some matters tied to Novomatic and related entities. Counsel representing Novomatic told the board those investigations began in 2019; several matters had been closed and 1 remaining allegation concerned whether Novomatic influenced appointments at another company (Casinos Austria). Counsel said prosecutors had proposed discontinuing that remaining matter and that a final decision by the second-instance prosecutor could arrive before the end of the year. Board members asked for regular updates and for the company to report any material developments.
After questioning about governance and AML arrangements, board members voted unanimously to recommend approval of Klein's Nevada suitability application. The motion passed 3'0to'0, with no recorded opposition. The board asked that Novomatic keep the board updated on the status of the Austrian proceedings.
