North Bend council authorizes K-9 donations account and approves sewer-cleaning equipment purchase

The North Bend City Council voted July 8 to authorize a separate bank account to receive donations and grant funds for the city’s K-9 program and to approve the purchase of a 10-yard combination sewer cleaner through a Sourcewell contract with EnviroClean.

Councilors adopted Resolution 3368 authorizing staff to open a dedicated donations account for the K-9 program and to designate authorized signers including the chief of police, the mayor, and the finance director/city administrator. The motion passed on a voice vote; councilors recorded “aye” and the mayor declared the motion carried.

Separately, the council authorized staff to purchase a 10-yard combination sewer cleaner under the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing contract with EnviroClean. During the meeting the purchase price was cited in the motion record as $637,646 (the motion transcript also contains an earlier figure of $637,604). Councilors said the purchase would be funded from the wastewater capital fund account (listed in the motion as account 14-4479890) where the department’s approved budget for the item was $740,000. The motion to authorize the purchase passed on a voice vote.

Both actions were presented as agenda items discussed at length during the work session earlier in the evening; the council moved them forward at the business meeting with no further substantive debate recorded on the council floor.

Records: Resolution 3368 and the purchase authorization were adopted at the July 8 meeting. The council did not record roll-call vote tallies by individual names in the meeting transcript; the meeting did show all present council members responding “aye.”
