Cannon County board members at a July workshop previewed routine consent items, discussed scheduling and introduced a new principal.
Staff reviewed the revised July 10 agenda and asked the board to approve consent items including the June regular meeting minutes and overnight/out‑of‑state trip requests (one cited: Cannon County High School cross‑country at Shawnee XC camp, July 17–20, 2025). The board had no substantive questions on the minutes or that trip.
The board discussed scheduling a board retreat (typically in September or October) and asked staff to gather available dates. Members also set a special called board meeting in July for a budget amendment related to the previously discussed bonus and asked staff about preferred meeting times (5:30 p.m. was suggested as acceptable to several members). Staff introduced Brandon as the new middle‑school principal and said further introductions would be made at the Thursday meeting. The workshop concluded with the reminder that the regular board meeting is Thursday, July 10, at 6 p.m. in the Cannon County Middle/Elementary cafeteria.
No formal votes were taken on these preview items at the workshop.
