Council approves minutes, invoice register and enters closed session for litigation strategy

Minutes: A councilmember moved to approve the minutes of the June 10, 2025 meeting; a second was recorded and the council voted “Aye” with no opposition. The clerk recorded the minutes as approved.

Invoice register: Staff described several line items and answered council questions about charges ranging from annual sewer cleaning to repairs after an onsite line failure. The council debated a pair of additional invoices related to Fiesta Days and the Derby and then voted to approve the invoice register dated July 8, 2025 with the additional invoices included. The two added invoices noted in the meeting record: a Mark Rummel invoice for parts ($121.65) and labor ($250) related to preparing a Derby car, and an invoice from Duchess Service (listed as “Derby Bridal”) for $1,476.04. The motion to approve the register with those additions passed unanimously.

Closed session for litigation: The council then voted to go into a closed session to hold a strategy session regarding pending or reasonably imminent litigation. A councilmember moved, another seconded, and a roll-call vote was taken with the council recording affirmative votes to close the meeting for that purpose.

The votes adopt routine administrative records and authorize confidential discussion with legal counsel under the exception the council cited; no substantive litigation details were discussed in open session.
